I have a 99 Eclipse non turbo all stock except for cold air ind. When the motor is cold the first two times you try to start it, it won't fire. Usually on the third time it will crank but it is rough( it spit and sputters at maybe 400 RPM) Then when it picks up to normal idle it sounds like it is pulling way to much air through the intake. After all this ( maybe a minuite ) everything is fine and it runs great. It is not giving any check engine or service engine lights so Autozone can't put it on a machine. I am sure it some sensor but any help on this I would appreciate.

 

See how your spark plugs look, and consider replacing them and your wires if you haven't done so in a while.

 

Also the exhaust, if it sounds really rough and spity like, kinda like a VWbug, you might wanna check on the coil....
Edit: 420a engine or the 4g63?
