Head bolt studs torque specs... AGAIN!
Alright guys, i was reading around and found some stuff on the head bolts torques specs. Actually off Autozones website. And for a 95 GST 2.0 L turbo, it said no more than 53 ft/lbs of torque. IS THIS RIGHT? What would happen if i torqued em too much? This is scaring me now....

Just remember, once you smashed it down that far you cant back it off or it will leak. i dont think 20 some extra Lbs is really gonna hurt. But it could cause more damage to the head if it ever overheats. Gives less room for expansion and the head could crack easier, but youd have to get it pretty damn hot.

Ill have to look it up in my $12 BOOK that you shouldhave bought a long time ago...[8D]
thats all those books are good for, but at least you know you torqued stuff right, a head isnt something you wanna do wrong.

Alex, the auto zone site isnt going to lie to you. 53 ft/lbs sounds right too, unless you are running ARP studs. Then you need alot more. Like gastroker and his 125 ft/lbs that he torqued his to[:-]

Dude, you finished your head gasked almost 2 weeks ago now right? and now you are questioning whether or not your head bolts are on securely or not???? Dude, no offense, but DO SOME LEG WORK ON THESE THINGS! If you don't know what you are doing when you do a project, seek advice. Buy a $12 book that will save you from buying a 2k motor in 1000 miles. Come on man!

if it isn't tight enough than yes, you will leak not only oil but drop compression!!!! correction on my part it's been almost a month since you have "finished" your head gasket... man seriously. you are going to damage your car if you aren't careful, and don't do things right the first time. go to autozone, get a manual, tighten them down to where they are suposed to be. then tighten your valver cover down!!!
