i searched but wasnt too detailed, can u guys give me a quick run-through on what i will need to remove the head from a 420a also any special tools,thanks

Just a tq wrench. Maybe a universal wrench for the odd thing here and there

buy a chiltons Manuel it will help a lot.

420a... i worked on one before i knew about dsm's haha, i remember it had the headers off, but i cant remember if the mani was off....

how bout any motor mounts and how bout the harmonic balancer?? reason for this whole topic is cuz i had a friend come over and he said it didnt sound like the knock was coming from the bottom of the motor it could be a bent valve or something
