Default head rebuild

so im finally sending my car out to get the head rebuilt. My dad insists on having his friend do it because "he trusts him"

well i dont.

Its going to take him a month and that is rediculously long.

a dealership estimated about 2600 dollars to fix it.

what would a regular shop charge for that? I know it wouldnt be no 2600 dollars.

god im so angry right now. wIAJTRF GU fh ucjfuyc****[:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@]

i know that when i got my head rebuilt i had it done by the dealer and it was $2,100, but most places should be allitle cheaper i guess. Alot of the charge won't even be from the auto repair shop. It will be from the machine chop which ussually charges at least 500-600 just to fix the head.

When I had my single cam head rebuilt on my GS. NESpeed and I pulled the head off ourselves and sent it to a machine shop and cost me about $550 and it took us an hour to pull the head off and a day or two at the shop and another hour or so to put it back on

well a month is typical for that type of work. I know my car was at the dealership for a month before i got it back.

Dealer=DEVIL lol... Seriously though don't EVEN get shyt done that the 'ship it'll be AT LEAST 3 times the price of a good shop. Shop around. As for your dad's friend doing it... Well it may be cheaper but the good ol boy system also states that it'll get done when he has time so he won't be working on it today tommorrow and the next day. He'll pull a couple bolts today. Maybe get the head off next week... and so on. Good ol boy system's GREAT for emergencies but you're not falling into emergency category at the moment. Now if you know someone that knows what they're doing to retime the car I'd say pull the head and send it out yourself or find a rebuilt on for a decent price (Maybe check e-bay?) hen do the engine work yourself and let a machine shop do the head job.

ya the best bet is if you can pull the head off yourself you will save about $70\hour in labor of taking that off and putting it on again
