Hi i have just recently sold my honda civic andthinking of purchasing a1998 Eclipse GSX.. The only thing is that the car i'm looking ot buy is automatic instead of 5 speed manual... Can any body tell how big of PERFORMANCE a difference there is between a 5 speed GSX and anAutomatic GSX..... the pros and cons

An auto DSM isn't as bad as everyone may think (except you David).

Pros to having an auto over a manual is that you will never misshift, it can shift faster than a manual, you can upgrade the torque converter to a higher stall and add a shift kit, add a oil cooler for the tranny to a 6 pass or more + more...

Cons to having an auto is that you don't pick its shift points, you can overheat the tranny fluid if brake boosting is done for too long.....

i love shifting, i really do... but then when i go to austin the clutch starts getting real heavy. neutral is the only way to survive there.
