i would say like an 1994 awd, becouse you can get one for cheap and they are very fast. My first choise was to buy an 1998 gsx but people want to much for those.

I/H/E 3 first steps. Intake is a big must. more airflow = more power also headers aren't a must, but do add a lot. Exhaust is another must.. can't go from big to small... Bottlenecking your airflow is bad. this should jump you up about 15-20 whp, depending on the exhaust. if you get a down pipe, cat eliminating test pipe and cat back (illegal, but kick butt) that alone will jump close to +20 on its own.Also, boost control is a big must, boost gaugeand a turbo timer to save the 14b. Next I would go with larger and lighter innercooler pipes, 2nd gen ported exhaust manifold (1st gens have a tendincy to crack) and then off to fuel, pulleys, turbos, etc... airflow and boost control first though

 

If you wanna drive the hell out of it, i'd personally recommend a shifter kit. 1g's had an absolutely horrible shifter compared to 2g's. Most of the problems can be cleared up with a symborski kit or something similiar. Remeber, you can have all the power you want, but it's no good if it can't get to the ground.
