HELP Please!!!!
My husband owns a 1997 Eclipse RS (2.0 DOHC) and is in Iraq at the moment, I know absolutely NOTHING about cars (ok, well a little like checking fluids, but that's it)
The battery that was in his car died, and I have spent the better part of the past few days trying to find the proper battery via some of the local auto parts stores, and none of the batteries they have told me would fit, have fit.
The problem is the postive post on the old battery was almost twice the size of the negative post (same with the battery clamps, the postive clamp is bigger than the negative clamp) , and no one seems to know which battery will actually fit, they keep giving me batteries where both posts are the same size, NAPA even tried to tell me that I need to replace the clamp that goes around the post, but myself and a few family members finds that a bit extreme...
Does anyone know the proper sized battery I need to solve this problem?? So far we have tried an 65 and an 86
You help is GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks in advance!!!

RE: HELP Please!!!!
I know that at Discount Autoparts they have sleeves that go over the terminal post and make the post bigger so larger clamps can be used. other wise I would just change the clamp on the end of the battery cable all it envolves is un srewing the old one and putting the new on in its place.

RE: HELP Please!!!!
Thanks for the responses everyone.
I ended up going back to NAPA yesterday to give them their battery back and get the orginal from them....Problem Solved....The old battery did have one of those sleeve things on there but the battery corrosion was so bad that they didnt see it until they cleaned it up a little (we live in Alaska and due to medical problems I wasn't able to start his car for about a month, and completely spaced that he had his amp to his stereo system still plugged into the battery...bad wife I know lol)
