my 96 rs is given me crap and i haven't even had it a month. Two days ago it starts out it was dying when i put the clutch in yah weird i know. THEN to top it off it quit dying only to have the rpms freakin sky rocket to about 4grand and stay about there then it would stop butthe rpms were fine for a bit today and then went through the roof today after sitting to two days, im thinking it maybe the TPS if there is one im new to DSM's so be nice and it looks like the intake gasket is broken so thats something else i need to fix. so please if you have any sort of info please help me. im really frustrated right now with my car.

an air leak, like the intake gasket will cuase idle fluctuation. Do you have a cel?

 

no cel. its really freakin weird

 

I had the same problem once, only it was a 4g63t... but it WAS the TPS...

 

did your car throw a code. because mine isn't .

 

does a car nessicarily have to throw a code? i put mine on my dads code reader last night and pulled nothing so i dont know what to do except like what the engineer said it could be that air leak through my gasket that wouldn't throw a code that i know of ? anyone got any suggestions?

 

change your intake manifold gaskets. that will play a big role. another thing that makes timing off is... you timing. when was ur timing belt changed last?

 

Nah, mine didnt throw a code. No CEL... just ran like ****... especially at idle.
