HELP PLEASE
the price isn't a problem the only run between 20 and 30 bucks. the problem is that you have to take the intake manifold off or apart depending on where your leak is (might as well replace both if ur going to raplce one though) and that is no fun at all.
no prob. the head gasket may very well be blown. it's VERY common for this engine because out of the factory the head bolts were not tightneed down to specs needed. have you noticed any smoke? if so is it white? open ur oil inlet and check for white milky substance. also smell ur exhaust and see if u smell any coolant. also can check ur coolant level and keep an eye on ur engine temp. head gasket swap isn't all that expensive either but it is a weekend project for experienced mechanics. we did it on mine in a weekend along w/ timing belt, idler bearing, tensioner bearing, and tensioner. which are all good ideas since the head and belt will be off. there is some gooop stuff that will act as a bandaid if ur intake manifold is leaking. you may wanna try that before jumping to conclusions. but another good way to check for blown HG is a compression test.
i hardly ever saw smoke w/ my blown head gasket but did have a very rough idle and rpm problems once in a while but didn't know if it was from my timing or head gasket.i changed my timing belt and head gasket and it ran like a dream and a lot stronger also.
we try lol. just get some goop and try the cheapest/simplest things the first so you don't end up spending a weekend and a copule hundred dollars in parts to fix a problem that could have cost you 15 bucks at autozone for some sealant and 20 mins to harden lol. if the goop doesn't work let us know. take it easy
