Hoses...?
Ok this may soon extremely stupid and careless but I was just as surprised as anyone else would be.I was changing the air filter when I looked down and say two ends that looked like tubing fit on the end of them. Sure enough down laying deeper in the engine bay were two tubes. One connected from the air intake tubing to the top of the engine and the other from theintake tubing tosomewhere beneath the battery. I'm not sure how long they were disconnected but the car has been driving fine. I reconnected them of course but if anybody has any idea as to what they are and what they do please let me know. I have a 91 Talon TSi fwd. Thanks.

RE: Hoses...?
I believe the hose that goes under the battery is the breather hose for the EGR.
The valve cover's breather hose can be connected to a fuel filter too, instead of a catch can. That way, instead of paying $50+ on a catch can, you will only spend $7 and you still keep oil out of the intake. You can buy a breather filter too, that might keep oil out of the intake but you get oil all over the engine bay instead.

I tap the exhaust and run the vent hose down to the exhaust pipe. It helps vent crank case pressure, you don't get oil in the engine bay, you don't have a coke bottle hanging around, andyou don't have a filter to get clogged.

RE: Hoses...?
What ever you do dont put a breather filter on your valve cover. After time the filter will get oil soaked and spray oil all over your engine bay making a really nasty oily mess. Unless you plan on replacing that breather filter alot so you dont risk oil soaking it and spraying your whole engine bay with oil, I would buy a catch can.

RE: Hoses...?
Use a 1 way check valve, if you have that much oil venting out of the motor you have bigger problems. I don't know, I haven't burned down my cars yet and I've done this on 4 drag cars, 3desert cars, and 2 daily driver hot rods, mine and my wifes.
