I agree with EMonz from a third party stand point. You can put all the money you want into a 2g but all your going to get is a faster car. With all those mods its just going to be worse on the maintence. As far as the suspension goes...your pretty much ripping out what you have and replacing it completely. It would be one hell of a job to get the 2g to handle like an Evo, which in my opinion is pretty much impossible. With all that work and money, it would be worth it if you intend to keep the car instead of selling it like EMonz said. I own a 2g so im not biased, but logically the Evo is a better deal.

Wait I was, someone agrees with me on this finally other than TheEngineer lol.either way a fast car is what it is..... a fast car. which means a money pig, drinks gas like water, and still needs tons of maintenace and will always brake stuff. you gotta pay to play. But at least the Evo you can do more without worrying as much.

 

ok, Emonz, what exactly do you have to worry about in a 2g gsx? if i'm replacing the entire engine with a stage 2 storker block, stage 3 street head, stage 4 trani, dsm link, 750 injectors, msd ignition, totl turbo, totl fmic, and very nice suspension... what is there to worry about? everyting is new... YES ONCE AND FOR ALL THE EVO IS A NICE *** CAR!!!! we get it, thank you for clearing that up 38929834098127408931234 times. but i still stand by my word that if you buy a gsx shell for 2k, dump 12k into it and sell it for 12-13k... i don't see a loss in that!

i figured everything up, even rounding everything UP to the nearest 100 i came out with 12,400. my tuning will be relatively free.. i'll be paying about 30/hour. that may be why it sounds so cheap.

I havnt ever drove an evo.. I was looking at getting one a year ago, but with my classes and house and other car, I just couldnt swing the payment for it.. But im sure it is a fun car to drive, as is the eclipse imo.. But for the money that you spend on the evo, I wouldnt have any to mod it untill i get the thing paid for.. Unlike the eclipse, i dont have that high payment each month, so i can stick money into fixing it and modding it which is nice..

 

your gonna prob need more than 750s for the HP you want.

I am not clearing it up that the Evo is nice. I am stating my opinion that the Evo is more valuable for the price you get a hell of alot more to start with.

 

you dont need to do that with the Evo though. on top of that there are deals out there. I dont pay an arm and a leg for mine. I afford mods when I want them. on top of it my car is still faster than alot of DSMers around even the modded ones. Less money in mods with the Evo gets you further. IXs are hitting 11s with TBEs and a Flash tht is what $1000-$1500 if that depending on the ddeals you get.

If you havent driven the Evo you cant compair the cars. I know how fun the 2Gs are and the AWD ones at that they are a blast but driving the Evo then going back to a 2G was kinda lame(no offense John)lol.

Test drive the Evo and it will justify the price tag.
