Default idle problems

what types of thing would cause my idle to jump around from 200-2000 (when cold) and 500-1500(when warm) and vibrate really bad
it also take a few time to start it up and keep it on ( the rpms shoot up then it turns off after sputtering down to 0 rpms)

do you think that is what it is cuz i havent been able to figure it out for a few months. my car has sat for 4 months cuz of this i gave up and went another derection. would that cause my boost guage to not work as well as it did b4 the problems? it only goes like half way and i used to get it to go almost all the way up.

Do a boost leak test. Idle issues can be caused by ISC and/or FIAV (wax pellet) being bad. Regardless, a boost leak test is essential to turbo cars and should be done as preventitive or routine maintenance.

Check the basics like silvercoupe said make sure the intake is on completley and you dont have any vacuum hoses missing. There is also a write up for idling problems on www.vfaq.com

ok so normally after i turn the car of i here this woose of air. but i dont here that any more now there is kinda like a high piched whistling sound. its not a belt i know that it comes on when my car hits a certian rpm when its idleing weird. my guess is that maybe the intake manifold gasket isnt seated proporly or that is leaking. but would that case this problem. of the weird idle. and yes i have looked at the vfaq site about 100 time trying to figure this ount, this is no joke ive been working on this problem for 7 months (i have another car and 2 jobs, not alot of time to work on my baby) and i hate mech. they ripe you off

Well if you suspect a vacuum leak try spraying a can of 2+2 around the intake and see if the rpm's change.

2+2 is throttle body cleaner, the rpms will change if you have a vacuum leak. If you have a leak it will suck in the 2+2 and stumble and want to die/stall.
