idle problems

Default idle problems

alright well i just started driving my car again (its been about 2 months) it starts fine and when i first start it up it will idle fine but once i rev it or go somewhere and stop it idles at about 500. when i brake and come to a stop it drops even below 500 rpms. sometimes it will even die. any help would be appreciated. thanks

possibly a vacuum leak. take a can of carb cleaner when its acting up and spray it around the manifold (with the car still idling), and if its runs better while your spraying, then its a vacuum leak

what else do you think it would be? just wondering. i havent tried that yet though

would it be safe to drive it or should i try not to drive it?

Sounds like a vacuum issue to me too. Check your hoses. I don't mean just look at them either; you're supposed to pinch them to check for cracks.

Well, that would cause an issue right there. I would check the rest of the hoses and connections if you haven't already. You can do a few things to take care of that; one is to use plasti-weld and another is to buy one off of ebay or junk yard.
What did that hose connect to? The PCV, brake booster...?

im not sure what everything is called so i couldnt tell you exactly but ill try.

thats the stock air filter hose and that little hose connects to the part right behind the spark plugs.

well i found out that that isnt the problem. im getting closer and closer to thinking that it is a vacuum leak which if it is im going to let a professional do that one :P
