Default impotance of Boring a block

hey guys i'm about to order forged pistons and rods for my eclipse, but i'm curious, everybody has said to bored the block and get oversized pistons but i'm curious, is it important? do you really need to?

No you dont need to but its an easier way to get more power out of a N/A motor. Its down to driver preference.

clean the walls to insure a good ring seal... which means better compression, no leaks.

boring is prep work for putting new pistons in a block. Because of the way pistons/rods move, over time cylinder walls become egg shaped. Boring just brings them back to a perfect circular shape to new pistins will make a good seal. and just to be clear, boring is not the same as increasing displacement for power, the idea is to bore as little as possible while still letting the pistons make a good seal. Whoever builds your motor will know what to do....

You may have the definition of Boring mixed up with Honing.. Honing is more like as you described above as far as prepwork in restoring a cylinders round shape and cross hatch. Boring realigns the cylinder to make it squared and true to the block while slightly increasing displacement. Boring should be followed with honing.
