k&n or CAI
alright, so i'm still kind of new to this search thing, so if this has already been talked about then i'm sorry in advance. i could fin anything about it and all i get is some pop-up thing.
anyways, i'm trying to get some sort of intake system in my eclipse.
i want to know what the best one is, either a k&n intake or a CAI.
a CAI cost about $200 something, and i believe a k&n is like around the high $100.
if they are about the same in preformance wise then i think i might go with the k&n.
what do you guys think

RE: k&n or CAI
well usually k&N is just a replacement filter or converted to a cone filter. And i dont know where you are looking but you can get cold air intakes for less than 200. And dont look on ebay, because you will end up buying junk. Stick with name brand.

i looked on aem website and the price for one was like $200.
and what do you mean that ebay stuff are junk, my friend bought an intake system off ebay and it works fine.
could someone please explain some of the problems

Quality bro. Thats what it boils down to. With an intake it might not be that big of a deal, but with other things.... ooh yeah. For example, the buscur racing front mount intercooler core, Vs your average 'large' eBay intercooler core... after one run i believe the intake temperature of the Buscur racing front mount was in the 50s or 60s... and with the eBay core, it was well clear of 100. Thats a problem.
Since an intake is such a basic thing, the only things that can go wrong are things like, not having the correct coupers and not having the air sensor fixing. I know a couple people that have bought eBay intakes and have had just that happen.
So, if you want to cheap out.... go for it.
