so im looking online here at work cuz thats all i do is play on the internet all day and she wants to get a 2000-03 mercury cougar. she loves the style of the car even if its fwd. she wants one so bad. is their very much you can do to one of these besides intake and exhaust. i want her to get a gsx or a 240sx does anyone know anything about the 240sx? i like the idea of rear wheel drive and some of them are turbod any feed back would be great thanks for your time guys

240sx are great cars.
The cougar is a POS... its a ford. Simple as that. You can turbo just about anything... so aprart from intake, exhaust the only other thing is turbo.

The 240SX is a great car but it's usually tough to find one in good condition. Well actually I'm sure it's a lot easier to find an automatic in good condition, I'm sure that's probably what she wants. My brother has two S13 240SXs in storage here at my parents house waiting for him to get back from Afghanistan.
There are quite a few different motor types for the 240. Most popular would be the KA24DE which is a pretty slow 4-cylinder at 155 horsepower but still has potential if you were to go as far as turbo-charging it. There's also the CA18DET which is also a 4-cyl stock turbo-charged and comes with 175 horsepower, however it has slightly more potential because it's an iron block and can support more.
Then the most sought-after 240 motor to build for hosepower is the SR20DET aluminum block that can support 500 horsepower on stock internals and comes stock with 203 horsepower. There are some more after that but once you go past SR20 you are really talking about big bucks, you get into the RB line which is the same motor's they use in the Nissan Skyline.
The best choices for your situation would be the CA18DET or the KA24DE because usually people swap SR20's into their cars because they are quite a bit more expensive stock and much more rare to find already in the car than the CA or the KA are. Plus the SR20 is a really a builders-motor. the CA is only found in S13 models so they are generally pretty cheap but also more on the rare side.
The KA you will find with uttermost ease in most S13 or S14 models.
