RE: Main differences between 2nd and 3rd gen?
Go for a spyder and you won't have to worry about the sunroof (I LOVE a good convertible ). All of them nowadays have airbags, all have A/C and most have power locks and windows as well as remote lock control. Some have power mirrors I think all those features are actually things you can order fromt he factory no matter what model you get. Those are really minor things that should be opptions you'll just have to pay for them no matter what car you get.

RE: Main differences between 2nd and 3rd gen?
I don't want convertible, because theres only sun and hot approx 1-2 months a year where i live
I think i will go for the 2G, because it's so much cheaper for me, and it doesn't seem like 3G have any major improvements...
Here are the registration fees in my country (excluding car price, shipping and 25% tax):
1998 GS = $8400 in registration fees
1999 GS = $9300 in registration fees
2000 GS = $13700 in registration fees
2001 GS = $14430 in registration fees
If i buy a 2001 GT i have to pay $23000 in registration fees
You americans are so lucky. The cars are almost free over there...

unless you have a very very good paying job....i would suggest you look elsewhere. i would shoot myself if i had to pay that much for an eclipse.

Thanks a lot for you're replies!
But i think you are focusing too much about the engine/performance.
I wonder what new features the 3G got, which 2G has not. Like Remote keys? Aircondition? Airbags? Sunroof? Power Door Locks/Mirrors?
