Default Misfire

I need some help guys. My eclipse has been having a misfire. The check engine light flashes and then stays off. Cant remember if thats a type A or B. Also I changed the plugs and when I took the old plugs out, theplug all the way to the right if youre looking at it from the front, is black and all the others look fine. Changing the plugs also didn't help. I was wondering if I could get some input from you guys and let me know what I should check. Thanks!

Make sure they are all gapped between 28 and 32. And get new spark plug wires too.

Would that be turning the plug black though?

if they arent gapped propperly then its not gonna burn all the fuel, causing that cylinder to run rich, and turning your plug black

so.. yes, yes it will

If a single cylinder is not firing it will turn the plug black b/c its not igniting the fuel.

I did a compression test and found that one of the cylinders has less than half the compression as the others. Me and my friend pulled the motor today to open it up to find out whats wrong but of course we dont have bolts long enough to mount it to the motor stand. Also forgot to put oil in the cylinder and doing to compression test to see if its bad rings. Oh well, never hurts to rebuild the motor.
