Default Modz..

Ok, i have a 97 gs-t.. now i got a 3' piping w/ apex muffler, a HKS BOV, Apex downpipe, and a k&n filter.. can anyone tell me what i can doto gain the most power out without the possibility of detonation? P.s imthinking of getting a 20g and an intercooler..

You won't have to worry about detonation for quite some time...dsm engines are superstrong. No matter how fast you wanna go, there'll come a time when you say enough is enough. A 16g is when most "enthusiast" say enough. Hardcore DSMer's who are chasing that magic number venture beyond a 16g. Since you've got good basic mods, upgrade the intercooler first. If you can't afford your FMIC aspirations, get the supra sidemount. Don't qoute me on this, but i thinkthe dsm smic flows roughly 191CFM while the supra smic flows 496CFM. For an fmic....go custom with a spearco core. Easily upgradeable, and kinda cheap too. My recommendation is go with an EVO 16g and a Spearco FMIC if you can afford it. Also, consider a First generation head swap. More flow and top end power. Don't worry about detonation...you've got a strong bottom end built with boost in mind. Racers have gone to 400hp on stock blocks, however they wer using six-bolt blocks.

It's hard to say "what's the best mod I can do" it takes a series of mods to prepare for major ones. simply slappen a 20G and a FMIC on it won't be very good. You'll need injectors, tuning, new fuel pump, etc etc. The turbo lag on your stock motor and a 20G would be insane as well.</P>

oh im not just gonna slap on a 20g and a FMIC, im willing to do as much as i can to it.. thanks guys!

Umm. Detonation is knock...or rather knock count is the way to measure detonation. 4g63's can put up with a good amount of detonation before you start seeing something bad happen. </P>


I dunno, DSMtuners is kinda ricey. But i'm an old DSM guy...well young guy but old dsm member. I remember back when the talon digest was still around.....back then....and....so we....good ol days.....</P>
