Default Moonroof Noises

Greetings!

OK, I tried searching around and could not find this anywhere, so here goes!

My b/f has a 98 Eclipse GSX [sm=smiley1.gif], and has had on ongoing problem with a rattle coming from the moonroof. It is most noticible when we are on the highway. We have not been able to figure out exactly where the rattle is coming from (obviously something is loose). Has anyone else had this problem, and how did you fix it?

Many thanks!!

No, the glass does not move, and there is no problem with the seal - it seems to be something loose with one of the mechanical pieces. He has tightened any screws he can see, and nothing was loose.

Thanks for trying!

Next? [sm=smiley24.gif]

does it rattle when it is closed/open/both? (obvious~~~&gt rattles usually mean something mechanical is loose. as you stated. if it seals fine and closes tight, maybe there is something broken in it? or something got stuck in it while it was open and is rattleing around inside.

Only rattles when closed, and pushing up against the interior sliding panel does not make it stop, so it does seem to be something with the mechanism.

At one point I did find on the NHTSA site a reference to a TSB about sunroof noises (TSB #98070120027, NHTSA #602048) But they charge an outrageous fee [:@] to retrieve the document, and I don't want to pay for it when I don't know that it is going to help me. (anyone happen to have it already??)
