Default New transmission

Hey I have to get a new tranny with this new gsx... now just to clarify, even though this car has a 6-bolt motor, i still have to get a 2g transmission? and only the flywheel has to be for a 6-bolt? or does the 1g and 2g have the same mounting points on the car?

It depends on what the person did. Im pretty sure that the 2g tranny could fit on a 6 bolt block. But you having a GSX the spline on the t-case is what is important. So you need to find out if you have a 22 or 23. Also i think the mounts are different for the 1g and 2g.

ok, its a 23 spline... apparently they stopped making the 22 spline in 1992 (food for thought)... So john, if i remember correctly, the tranny will bolt up to the 6-bolt block, but will need the 6-bolt flywheel, correct? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong... and all you 6-bolt swappers go ahead and jump in on this since you've done this before...

Hey got my answer. I talked to Jarrod at Buschur Racing... he said that the 7-bolt tranny will bolt up and work with the 6-bolt block, all you need is the new 6-bolt flywheel

Just some things to add to that, a lot of people don't know. 1) You CAN'T use a 1g tranny different mount, 2) ALL 4g63 clutches are the same. So you can use the existing one no problem, 3) Make sure you get a 6 bolt AWD flywheel. The AWD flywheel is smaller in diameter, compare them if your removing it yourself. The FWD guys that mess up on that just have ano start problem as the starter won't hit the flywheel, not sure what problems the AWD guys would have if they put a flywheel that's too large for it...
