Default newbie w/95 gsx need tech help

sup this is my first post here...originally i was into hondas but i just got this car and it has a lot of problems and i was wondering if you could help me out...
first of all, as stated above, its a 95 gsx stock everything w/about 168k miles on it...
the main thing thats bothering me is that the car boggles everytime i step on the gas...
lets say im stopped at a signal, put it into first and take off (keeping it under 3k rpms) then i put it into 2nd, step on the gas and take it to about 3.5 rpms and the car starts sputtering/boggling... sputtering meaning...stops and goes stops and goes...ill push the gas harderder and it starts jerking harder...
is it my injectors? throttle valve? maybe even transmission? it did leak clutch fluid at one time...
secondly, my rpm go up and down between 1.5 and 2.5 rpms when its suppposed to be idle..a mechanic told me to raise the idle see if it will stabilize and i did but it didnt do much...when i turn my key my rpm just shoots to 2.5k
what do you guys think the problem is?
any comments/advice/help/personal situations welcome..thanks in advance...

Well if at an idle it goes up and down that points at the Idle Air Control Motor... Now doing it in gear doesn't though... I don't think it's a problem with the trans at all. Also it COULD be a combination of things. Are you hearing any type of unusual noises from the rear of the car? Possibly a problem with the fuel pump and or fuel filter? Also check the TB and make sure it's clear of any carbon deposits clean with an old toothbrush and carb cleaner. That should give you a good start on the problem keep us informed so we can narrow the problem down and possibly get it fixed.

im pretty sure the problem with the idle is the IAC motor ( idle air control). i have a 93 gsx and that what my car was doing and i bought a new one and it idles like a dream now.

you have idle surge. it could be the isc, a dirty throttle body, or the BISS screw. go to vfaq.com and look up idle surge on how to fix it.
as for the sputtering, does it only do it whe you are accelerating moderately and building up boost, or will it do it even if you revv up really slowly?
if only during boost you probably have a boost leak. if it does it all the time then check your plugs/wires, then injectors/fuel pump/fuel filter
