Default no top end power?

I just got my 98 eclipse gst back from the dealer today, and I was driving along until someone was doing like 25-30 in a 55. I downshifted to 2nd gear, expecting to zip right by, got up to 5500-6000 rpms, but it hardly felt like the car was pulling. It felt something like a slipping clutch except the clutch was just replaced. I am not too familiar with this car yet, so if anyone could explain to me what the problem is, it would be appreciated!

my 01 eclipse had the same problem...
If it makes a weezing sound as if coming from the air intake,
and your intake looks like mine...
make sure that the intake is screwd on somhow, what happens is that at high RPMs, the intake kicks back and starts to suck on the bottom of the hood, air gets cut off and you get no power!!!
i dono how the older body (turbo) intakes look like or how they are made, but if it is like mine, that is most likely your problem.

the turbo is an easy thign to know when its bad. You'll hear a whine from it. The rpms didnt jump or anything right?

I dont hear a whine, but there is a ticking sound when I let off the gas, I had my small town mechanic check out the car before I bought it and he said the turbo was good and didnt smoke, he seemed to know what he was talking about, but who knows, and yeah, the rpms did jump alittle...

slight chance, your valves might be a little off timing.
