Question Noobie question on trunk release

On the trunk of my Eclipse, when I pull the trunk release, it doesn't pop up at all, so I end up having to go do it manually, and it's a bit of a struggle getting it open. It stays open once it IS open though, so thinking maybe it has to do with the hydraulic lifter rods or something, but since this is my first one, I thought I would reach out and get some opinions. Thanks!

If the hatch unlocks when you pull the lever, then more than likely it is the lift struts. That is what fixed mine. That sucker is heavy!

I couldn't believe how heavy that trunk is, so yes......I think new lift struts are definitely in order!
