Semi synthetic tends to cause more friction...

Full synth only leaks past the seals because the seals need to be changed out. I changed to full synth with my 6g72 at 50K with no leaks (later on my rear valve cover leaked because the seal went bad). My 4g63 is on full synth with no leaks.

So, it can be said that dino oil cakes up and covers those bad spots on the seals and that the full synth leaks right past the bad spots...hence why everyone says comments like what you stated Estraw. You're not wrong, just not fully informed on the why. You know now though

You have to think about it for a second, full synth is really thin where the dino oil is really thick. Also, look at cars with dino oil and that have leaks, look at how the oil cakes up on the motor. Now look at a car with full synth and look at how the oil only attracts dirt which cakes up, but still very easy to wipe off as compared to dino oil which has caked up.

Full sysnthetic ftw!! I usually go with mobil 1. But there are others that are cheaper, or more expensive if you want something like royal purple

Even on my lil neon motor i use full synthetic. Pensoil full synthetic. It's no Mobile 1, but it works. I concur with the Full Synthetic especially in a turbo'd motor.

I can't recommend anything more than Mobil1. I have Royal Purple in my car now and I can't tell a difference between it and Mobil1 but the price, lol.
**...but then again, only a machine can "see" past the commonality of the brands. My motor was just as happy with Mobil1 though...that's all I was trying to say **
