In my 97GST I am getting misfires/ stumbling in between sporadically good power. I pulled all the plugs and found oil on the #4 plug could it be the Valvestem Seal or a bad ring… ? Also no smoke anywhere, I have put the car on the highway 3 times no overheating just a hesitation and stumble every 4 sec when I give the car a steady acceleration

 

The rich condition could be caused by the misfire.

Simply change the spark plug and change the spark plug wire. Tha should fix your problem. Make sure you use NGK classic plugs. None of this platinum or iridium ****.

 

1st do a compression test and make sure you dont have an issue there. Then do like sebba said and try just replacing the plug. Are you saying the oil was on the electrode or just in the hole where the spark plugs goes? Are you sure its not just unburned fuel

 

Well I was able to catch up with a friend who has every tool under the sun compression was good we checked it all cylinders are at 125 psi. When we pulled the plug we noticed that there was no oil on the electrode. We checked all the wires and vacuum lines and they checked out so I was happy about that. Then he hooked his lap top to my computer and found out that the MAS was bad and it was throwing off what the cars computer was reading. The plugs were almost white so the car was running very lean. He took a small hammer and ever so softly tapped it about 5 times and told me to drive it.. WOW stumbling gown! He told me to clean it out with MAS cleaner and that might fix it for good?? I have been driving the car all day and I noticed that it might stumble and then surge at full power…hold on lol …if I floor it! So in the morning im going to pray and pray lol upgrade my hoses and install my new powder coated valve cover and my underdrive pully.

 

125psi, and you have problems my friend!

Yeah 125 psi is low.

 

It's WAY beyond the service limit.

 

thanks for the food I was more worried about one or more cylinders being off. My friend told me that because I need a new batt and it was slow to start is what caused the 125psi reading. He was ok with that until I get a new Batt and a MAS. Imagine this…. Having to turn that engine over By hand? I.E “no starter” how much compression do you think you would build up? Not very much. So I will keep you guys posted after I get my parts for thought..
