Default Open down-pipe?

Currently, i have a Thermal research and development cat-back. (stock cat)

If i cut the cat-back off, (including the catalytic converter) and get a 3inch down-pipe and leave it open, how much of a gain would i see over what i have now?

Also, how much of a difference would it be if i got the down-pipe and kept the cat-back? I would think open would be greater power...

The only reason why i don't like my exhaust tip, is because of the build up that gets on the bumper...It makes me want to cut it off, lol. Not only should it be faster, but the car will stay cleaner and be essentially lighter...(probably about 100lbs with catback and muffler off)

Why would you want to think abt running an open down-pipe, it would be way tooloud and illegal.

Don't do it its not worth the pollution and it gains one horsepower its so not worth it considering in some places no cat = getting your ride impounded. Import Tuner did a cover on it it was a pretty good article. do a little more research before you cut the cat out

In a state like Florida you won't get impounded.

I think its worth it.

I dont think its worth it at all. Your really looking at minimal gains for something that is gonna sound like crap. Aftermarket mufflers flow very well.

Minimal gains? Wrong.

There was a guy running a 16g setup and once he opened up the cutout he gained like 50whp, no exaggeration.

No dude, I saw the video. Only difference was the cutout.

He was running a cat on the normal exhaust.

Post said video? I find it kinda hard to believe myself 50WHP is alot to gain from any single mod esspecailly an exhaust dump. Open DP in the Evo made the car drive like **** and felt so damn slow down low. It gained some psi and spool time but def was not gaining anything close to even 10WHP
