Default Over boosting?

Is it possible to over boost a car?

My teacher is running his stock turbo on a 96 GSX at 16lbs (holding) but it spikes higher he says it used to be running at 21lbs.

Whats the optimal boost for his car? i would like to prove him wrong :-P

That is to much boost for the stock turbo and 21 is just not realistic.

There are many things that will effect what you can run for boost. On a stock 2g you dont really want to run more than 16psi because of the fuel system. The stock t25 isnt even any good past that anyways. And the 1g bov can hold about 18psi. So you are saying he has it set to be 21psi and then it drops off?

I gotta call BS. there is no way the stock turbo would be able to push 21 lbs. of boost.

A friend of mine was running a 14b turbo on his GSX, and when his wastegate was screwed up, it would hit 20-21lbs of boost... That was on a pretty much stock setup.. It would get fuel cut though at about 19.. So unless he has stuff upgraded, he wouldnt be hitting 21lbs safely/or smoothly..

yea if he didnt set the psi to be that then its probably the wastegate. But if he said he was setting it to run 21psi and it actually held that or even never fuel cut, then its BS
