Default paint options for valve cover.

hey all. well since i just got my valve cover gaskets i figured that i want to paint it. what exactly are my options for paint? i know i need some sort of high heat enamel, but i dont know what heat rating to get. Or could i use brake caliper paint I figured that would have a good heat rating being as it goes on the brake calipers and those suckers probably get pretty dang hot. I dont think i have the option to powder coat it, i'll have to ask around a bit. any info would be greatly appriciated.

I've seen folks use brake caliper paint without heat issues. The real issue is fuel and oil getting on the paint and eating it. There are high temp, chemical resistant brake caliper paint though. Brake caliper paint helps out by giving you more creative colors as opposed to the standard orange, red, black (flat/gloss), blue, etc.
If you decide to use brake caliper paint, make sure that it's 500 degs or more heat resistant.

Btw, it's the weekend bro...just about everyone in here are out and about

Your best bet would be to get it powder coated though. It will last for a long time.

If you do use caliper paint, use primer and clearcoat, those will help keep it from chipping, fading, or scratching too soon.

Use paint remover to remove all the old paint, degrease it, wash it, sand it down, wash it, braze it if it leaks and has cracks, prime it, paint it, clear coat it
