Hi, was was driving my 99 eclipse spyder gs and this just recently happened.. but when i get in the rpm range of 2500-4000k the engine starts to make the rattling noise or knocking dont know how to decribe the sound. the faster the rpms the faster the rattling. please help me, i checked the oil it's fine. i asked a co-worker said could be something with ignition, but he didnt actually hear the sound himself, but please help me.

sorry for the double post, but i think it's on the drivers side of the engine or the center hard to tell. i live on my own dont have a second person to hear while i rev

It's like a knocking noice when a car is low on oil or something but really fast like 2500-4500 times a minute fast =(. but i checked my oil it's fine

 

sounds like something is loose. Not sure what to tell you though

 

Does it sound like it is coming from the top or lower part of the engine? Also does it knock while you are driving or while you are sitting somewhere? If the noise only occurs while you are driving and it changes noise as you change speed I say you have a CV joint the is in need of changing. CV or UV joints make a loud knocking to clicking sound as well. So it might not be your engine.

 

nah it's my engine, this morning i pushed the trottle body to make the engine rev, sounded like it's at the top,so tomarrow im gonna check my spark plugs.

 

K a knocking or ticking is likely something mechanical not a spark plug (electrical). If it's coming from the top I'd say something in the valve train. Run the engine see if you can pinpoint exactly where on the engine it is (Top or bottom, left or right, front or back). Also does the car shimmy a little bit like you might be missing a cylinder?
