ORIGINAL: 2nd g eclipse gst

if i had 21k id take the evo emonz real fast and in a hurry but back to reality my gst has alot of problems with it first off i dont have 2nd gear,my t25 is going out,my exhaust manifold has a crack,i need new headlights, but the motor was rebuilt at 90,xxx miles and its all riced up id like to change the look of it to a 97-99 look maybe you all could give me a list of things to get within a 3000 limit including a tranny or tranny rebuild????
My car is cheaper than most 350z??? get a loan for the rest like you would buying a 350z and youll be hooked up with a better car

back to reality if your tranny is gone that is likly going to cost you over $1000 prob close to $2000 to fix alone. your body will cost about the same to get that kit off and painted actually if your paint the car a better color in the end too then I wouldnt be surprised to see a paint job run $5k for a good one

All right first off if the engine has been rebuilt then that should be good to go for a while. Turbo: Trilogy Turbos out of Florida is where I'll be sending my 12A off for a big 16G build when it finally goes and they'll do that for around $450. ($470 + $25 shipping without core and $435 + free shipping with a good core). So check into Trilogy Turbos maybe get a decent price on a rebuild on yours from them.

Exhaust manifold shouldn't be more than $75 from a local junkyard. Gaskets to do the turbo yourself should be less than $30. Headlights $25 at the junkyard (At least where I am), bumper covers are $35 a piece at the local Pick'N'Pull here. That leaves the transmission. A friend JUST got her AUTOMATIC transmission rebuilt from the ground up for $1800. So it would seem fairly feasable to get EVERYTHING you want done AND have enough left over for a quick paint job AND gas money to get around to get the parts.

...Being frugal isn't being cheap, it's being smart about where your money goes I'm all for frugal. I like the way you think Sanguinius, lol.

I'm all for keeping the car and building it up. The excuse does sound like a subliminal cry to have a new car though, lol. If that's the case, save yourself the hassle and headache and just buy a new car.

A good paint job and nice custom color is gonna cost a hell of a lot more than $2k. NESpeed painted a car and put a body kit on for $2k in some backyard garage (tons of fiberglass work needed too) it was only painted black the car was origanally black no jams needed to be done nor did the engine bay. and $2k for this job was very very genrous.

I had my red eclipse partially painted (door and drivers 1\4 rear) it that bill costed me about $1k but the job was well worth the money
