pop pop no power....

ok i was coming up the road whch is a hill, i was in 3rd at 30mph. I down shifted to second and floored into the turn at around 20mph, i chirpped the tires and started accelerating hard then my exhaust went POP POP and i had no power, i shifted into 3rd and was fine at 15psi. I did a 0-60 last night and didnt run into a fuel cut or anything, WTF happend today?

Missfire... the pop pop was igniting fuel in the exhaust... check your plugs and wires

not true, that is fuel cut. the pop was def a backfire mine always backfires when I hit fuel cut. depending on weather and temps fuel cut can happen more or less. I fuel cut a 20PSI in 3rd if its colda night if it is a nice day I can run 20 all day

not really. I fuel cut at odd times in my car. like for example the other day I floored it in 5th i hit half boost I was at like 3500 rpms and I hit fuel cut out of no where

well its a rainy day and its like 70-75 degrees outside

it doesnt have to be cold out for it to happen, thats just one circumstance where it does happen. But it depends on how your engine is running. For some reason the car reached the maximum the ECU will allow the fuel pump or injectors to push and automatically cuts it off to prevent any damage.

does not happen on mine at all

RE: pop pop no power....

it is POSSIBLE to happen to any car but it all depends on the setup you run... usually happens when you have a turbo that is pushing to much for the fuel system.

brknhrtdpimp1489 05-22-2007 01:02 PM

RE: pop pop no power....

gotcha...basically if you upgrade a turbo and dont upgrade a fuel system then you'll go over the max capacity of the fuel system and the ecu cuts power to it so it wont screw up the injectors and burn up the fuel pump...right??

RE: pop pop no power....

Well did you get a jerk? Unable to get above a certain RPM? A lot of things can effect that. The quality of gas you got... even though you might have filled up with decent gas... thats no telling what you actually got.

2) Temerature has a lot to do with it. If its hot outside it can make fuel cut come in earlier. There are just so many factors.

Almost sounds like a boost leak or something?

RCJr9186 05-22-2007 02:12 PM

RE: pop pop no power....

when i first heard it it sounded like he blew a coupler but if he didn't change anything and is boosting just as much as before than it can't be a blown coupler or he'd still be lacking power. again, are the only mods done to the car in ur sig?

Having looked at this again... and hearing Rons theory... Im backing it. It sounds like a cracked/blown coupler somewhere... check all your v tubes and whatnot.

RCJr9186 05-22-2007 02:17 PM

RE: pop pop no power....

well like i said that's what it sounded like before BUT if he didn't change anything (by that i mean repair or change out his coupler) than he would still be losing boost and since he's pulling just as hard now as he was before..... that can't be it. so it was either fuel cut or knock. you ARE running premium fuel right?
