Default Porting vs. Aftermarket parts

I have a '98 GSX and I want to open up the flow of everything. I hear a lot about porting the exhaust and intake manifolds etc . How well does this work vs. buying aftermarket parts?

Also, I am fairly new to the world of imports and especially turbos. What are the most restrictive parts?

only thing worth porting is exhaust manifold, o2 housing, and turbo exhaust housing. Should port them when you have an upgraded turbo to prevent boost creep. Porting takes a lot of time and gains arent that much. Porting a head helps but not necessary until you are running 11's

i have seend header desighned exhaust manofolds for eclipse gsx/gst and i hear they do alot for the exhaust flow. also if u want flow get a billet intake it will help also have the head ported and polished these are exspensive ways to get better flow and personaly i dont think they are needed until you upgrade all the other stuff for it to make a big differance.

I have 16g turbo, controller, and gauge. I will be adding a better pump and 550 injectors very soon. In the near future am planning on getting a custom 3" full turbo back exhaust and making the turbo a big 16g. Is there anything else I should do before I get into porting.

Has anyone had any experience with using the Evo III exhaust manifold and o2 housing on a 2g?
