wasup! i am thinking of getting a 2003 eclipse spyder gs black/black top tommorrow. how reliable are they? any major flaws? any common mechanical issues? overall impression? i test drove it today for about an hour and loved it. how do the tops hold up? sorry for all the questions, thanks in advance for the replies.......[sm=icon_stickpoke.gif]

 

ok i dont own a 3g but i have read about them the engine is really reliable as long as u take care of it and as for the tops there are problems with them leaking and then needing to be replace but i love my eclipse and wouldnt trade if for anything

 

I just wouldn't buy a 3rd gen. They're not bad cars or anything, I'm just not a fan of those personally. What has attracted you to the 3rd gen eclipses?

 

yea im not a very big of the 3rd Gen. eclipses either, i've heard that the 3rd generation had alot of technical problemz , but thats just rumors.I drive a 2nd generation myself but i guess if u get it in good condition and u dont mess it up to bad it could make to be a good car....it is an eclipse afterall. I would reccomend 2nd generation to anyone unless your just looking for a 2000+car.

 

Unless you need a new car now I would wait till the 4G comes out next year.

 

What upgrades are being made to the 4th generation? if anyone knowz =p
