crankwalk only happens in the 92.5-99 eclipses.... the turbo models which are the gs-t and gsx's. from 89 - 92.5 they came with what's called a "6 bolt 4g63 turbo" but after 92.5 they replaced it with the "7 bolt 4g63t". not sure why. but the 7 bolts are what crankwalk. it can happen any time.

another suggestion is never holding the car in gear when sitting at a light or when the car it's still.

RE: prevent crankwalk???
if i were looking for a 2ng gen turbo'd eclipse... here's what i would personally do. EITHER 1 buy one but i wouldn't put any of my money into that block, i'd only buy upgrades that i could transfer over to another block (basicaly anything except building the block) and get a seperate 6 bolt block on the side so WHEN your motor takes a crap you have it right there ready to drop in. - swapping blocks isn't a 1/2 hr job though, it's a full weekend job with you and a buddy - or 2 buy a shell car with a blown motor or no motor for 2-3k and then buy a 6 bolt and drop it in there. that's my suggestion to anybody looking for one.
