Default Quest on Clutches

I was wondering will a thin cerametallic clutch wear faster then the thick cerametallic? Exedy makes both for my car, but it says that the thinner style is smoother for shifting. Just wanted to know because I don't want to have to replace it if it only has a short life span. And I am not going to be racing it, but I'm sure everyone on this site like me, loves to get up to speed fast when their merging onto the freeway.

The thin will probably wear quicker, but i think exedy offers a rebuild program that will rebuild the clutch at good price. It's either exedy or rams, i'm not sure, but i'd say go for the thick cerametallic. Now, cerametallic clutch's are pretty strong, and can take loads of abuse, but are often times difficult to drive with. That's why exedy offers the basic cerametallic and the thinner smoother cerametallic. It's up to you, but i wouldn't recommend a cerametallic clutch for a street car making under 350hp.

What type of clutch and brand do you think would be best for an eclipse that is between 150-200 hp?

I had the sport clutch and would recommend it to anyone. It was the 05800 kit and it held up great to all the launchs and general abuse i put it through(i was *very* abusive to my car, more so than others). Very easy to modulate, and will hold up for a long time. Be aware, if your changing the clutch out soon, eplace the clutch line, and i suggest you use the Stainless Steel braided line from RRE, it replaces the small reservoir on the front of the tranny. It give a much better feel to clutch, and doesn't cost all that much. Also, check out the master and slave cylinders for leaks or anything, and replace them if you've got the cash. It's just preventative maintenence which will save you a lot of headach later on.
