I'm not sure if i can help, but if you elaborate a little more on the questions we may be able to narrow down the list of suspicions.

For #1, well...that is kind of an akward thing...does it rise when you accelerate, are at a steady speed, or when braking?

For #2, You *could* have valve tick, since it's not uncommon for DSM's. A good way to test for it is to change to a lighter weight oil. If the tick goes away, then you just may need to get the valves cleaned. Another answer is that many DSMer's have found that there is carbon build up in the chamber and on the pistons themselves. There is a product called Mopar Combustion Chamber Cleaner that we have been using for quite some time and it totally cleans the chamber and pistons. Never mind that it's made by Chrysler, the stuff is really good. But in that scenario, you would need to remove the head in order to service the engine. Your Honda friend is on the right track but dsm's are built strong and rarely ever needa valve re-adjustment. Since Honda's VTEC system deals directly with the cam and cam lobes, there can be some deviation with-in the system because of casting imperfections and different tolerances. So the dealer is right(for once), Just switch to lighter weight oil and listen for the tick. When choosing the weight, try and go with the lowest weight you can run in the current weather. Hope this helps.

Ohhh.. it's lowered....well, if you're still running the stock shocks with aftermarket lowering springs, then chances are your shocks are blown. Blown shocks should be replaced very quickly, it'll save you having to get a alignment job done. Also, it's recommended that you also get a camber kit and replace the bushings in the suspension with polyurethane unit. All the symptoms are from the blown shocks, so don't get too upset. If you got aftermarket springs alone and not a set of coilovers, make sure you get a set of shocks that are recommended to work with aftermarket lowering springs. You can contact RRE, Ground Control,Sprint, or your spring mabufacturer, they'll be able to help you find a good set of shocks to compliment your lowering springs.
