Hey whatsup, i just turned 16 and got a 99 EclipseGS and i wannado some stuff to it so its not so stock. But im kinda on low budget. Any ideas?

I wanna do somethin to the exhaust to make it louder but i dont wanna spend 500$ on a kit

Ohh also whenever i rev my engine i hear this sound like water trickling or something. anybody know what that is?

 

Not much you can do performance wise on a gs. Intake, headers and a exhuast. What do you want to do to the car? You want body kits and neon, rims and tires, suspension? It all depends on what you want to do and what your budget is.

 

Well If you are on a budget try getting an intake off ebay, My friend did that with his honda then he threw away the filter it came with and replaced it with a K&N (you could do AEM or whatever) As far as the metal tube part of the intake, a metal tube is a metal tube. it might not look as good but it is round! He saved about $150 opposed to buying a AEM cold air intake! Get exhaust done at a local shop, take your time and look around. You can usually finda shop that will do cat back 2.5" for $250-300 or you can usually get a muffler welded on for around 150.

i would look on craigslist.org.. in your city and find some used aftermarket stuff if u want.. but for cheap horspower not gunna have much but u got, headers, intake, cam gears, bore it, port throttle body, mainifold's, exhaust,.. or looks u can find complete body kits new from people or on ebay for like 300.. blitz looks good.. or rims.. good luck bro

 

it you have a low budget, just save some up and put a good exhaust on there, friend has a gs with the greddy sp exhaust, it sounds great. i don't have any money but i managed to scrounge up the 500 for my apexi.

 

you have the right car if you are on a tight budget and want to make it "not so stock" and the reason being is b/c you can't do much so you can't spend to much money. in my old GS i had a header back exhaust, AEM cai, venom 400 performance chip, greddy grounding kit and an egr blockoff plate. on a mustang dyno i laid down 111whp. now this was w/ a blown head gasket and a vaccuum leak but i'm assuming it would have put down somewhere in the neighborhood of 120whp. i was the fastest n/a eclipse around but it was still slow. no part is going to make a conciderable difference so you can afford to go cheap on it. if you want cheap parts just go on ebay and start buying. catback exhaust, header (i bought my OBX header and high flow cat off ebay and never had a problem), high flow cat, 2.5" catback. those are what give you your most power (about 10whp out of all of that apx). good luck. got any pics?

 

And yet after all that still only a whopping 111hp! Look at the money to hp ratio, and its not worth it.. Keep the car for a daily driver and save up for a GST or GSX if you want power..

 

100% agree. 111whp after dropping 200 on the intake, apx 1k on the full exhaust, 20 for the grounding kit, 400 for the chip and 50 for my throttle body being ported out... 1670 dollars for... (we don't have a baseline so) not very much power! w/ that much money you can do a 16g swap on a gst or gsx to make over 340whp

 

Ron IS our current 2G 420a expert. And he will tell you... the way it is, man. That motor isnt worth fixing up to be a street racer.. it could make a fine Cruising car tho.
