Rattling in dash
I have a 1999Eclipse RS and have a rattling noise in my dash and it sounds like it might be coming from the windshield area. i am the only one that drives the car and there I know nothing fell down into the vents. It doesn't seem to do it all the time but when does it is irratating. Anyone have any ideas or experienced the same nose? <edited><editID>Rode</editID><editDate>38051.8403587963</editDate></edited>

Generally, when you go over a bump in the road the windshield shakes and rattles. Usually it'll stay in place during normal driving but go over too many speed bumps and the windshield "seals"(i'm not sure what it's actually called, but it's astrip of rubber that surrounds theborders of the windshield and protects it from shocks and vibrationsfrom the body)might get a little loose. Either the "seal" might be worn down or something along that line. I know on spyders that a strut tower bar will help eliminate the rattle when you go over a bump, but i'm not sure if it will help in your case, since it happens sporadically. Other things to check are the glove-box to see if something broke off and is lodged somewhere, or behind the firewall. Worse case scenario would be the tranny mount is broken....but that would cause a lot of things to vibrate. I can understand how annoying that can be, I had something stuck behind my glovebox for a while and finally got it out. No more rattle and the car is %100 more enjoyable to drive. I hope you get it fixed soon, good luck.
