Default rebuild or buy outright??

Guys i've been planning on rebuilding a spare 7 bolt for my 98 gsx however now that it's gettin close to time for me to start ordering party i just did a little more research and i can find a fully built 6bolt race motor for 2700... what do yall suggest? or is this really a preference matter?

between a 6 bolt and a 7 bolt is not a preference at all. Its a matter of the 6 bolt is WAY better than the 7 bolt. Dont really feel like going into detail, its been said here enough

no no my question is do you think it would be better to buy a race engine outright or build my own? and isnt the only difference in the 6 bolt and 7 bolt the fac that the 7 bolt crankwalks (which has nothing to do with the actual block)

The crankwalk does have to do with the actual block [sm=headbang.gif] it has to do with the way the oil lines and oil squirters are in the block itself. As far as better to buy the built block or build your own it really depends on what you want and what comes in the built block. It may or may not have the type of parts that your wanted.

the built engine will be 700+hp stable, and stable to 32+psi so i know it will suport all the power i can strap to it. i know everybody has a different opinion of crankwalk but from what i read it has to do with the bearings, the stock ones are apparently weaker than they should be and after enough abuse wll start to give and allow the crank to walk. but i don't want to get into a pissin match about what is and isnt' correct.
