Default Removing Head on 97 Eclispe Sypder GS

I'm replacing my head on the car after the timing belt came off bending some valves. I have the 10 bolts out of the head and the manifold has been disconnected from T/B, fuel lines and the other tubes and electronics that hook up to manifold and intake pieces.

My problem is the head will not budge. Is there something holding the manifold down underneath it where I can see it? Do I need a special tool to pop the head off or something?

All of you help is appreciated.

Wedge a prybar into the places where you can and (gently) work it loose.

You need to "crack" the head loose from the gasket.

Keep working it and it will budge loose, first on one end,
then the other.

If there is anything left holding it that you didn't disconnect, you will notice it after you budge the head loose from the block.

Hope this helps.

Yea a coupla good hits should help.

I was thinking that the inside part of the timing belt cover assembly may be bolted to the head and that could be whats holding it []

yah if it doesnt budge to well still instead of usin sumthin as big as prybar i would take a hefty flat head and if you can get the tip knocked in the gap twist the screw driver and she should b broke loose pretty good.
