Default Rough Idle on 96 GSX

I have a 96 GSX 5 speed. Everytime I Push the clutch down and let it go, the idle drops to about 500, sometimes even stalls. What could this be? Bad sparkplugs, or Battery/altenator??? let me know. Thanks a lot

Is the car throwing any codes of any sort? Have you changed anything lately? What aftermarket parts do you have on the car?

Well I just bought the car off a dealer auction. When I 1st saw it, I looked at it and it was fine. Then some idiots changed the spark plug wires, so that ppl think the car is messed up so they can buy it, but I bought it instead. So now the check engine light is on. The car has a cold air intake, and it looks like it has a manual boost controller. Boost goes up to 15 lbs. Might be the stock BOV ???

Does the car idle rough all the time or just when the clutch is depressed? Try pulling the one wire at a time while the car is running to see if you are getting spark at each plug. Just be careful not to shock yourself.

Problem fixed. We changed the spark plug cables and the head gasket. Works fine now. The car was bought with a blitz bodykit and a really ricey rear wing. Thinking about installing stock 98 eclipse bumpers and lights. Should I do this, cause the car looks way too ricey for my taste.

It's your car man, if you don't like the looks, change it to what makes you happy.

Yes thats what we;re going for. Cause now the bumper is about 2 inches of the ground and the gap betwen the fender and teh rims is about 6 inches, with 17" rims.

I say whatever makes you happy, if someone else doesn't like it cool let them drive something else. I would totally agree that some cars just look pimp as sleepers. The nice stock look with unseen modifications if desired. Also keeps you under the radar more with the 5.0

97-99 are sexy cars, Body kits make them look less attractive. If you have a 95-96 you can buy the 97-99 kit and convert.
