ok, when im driving and get it to the higher side of the rpms. say 4 or 5k. ill throw it in neutral and the meter will drop below 500rpm, sometimes the car will shut off. oil light pops up aswell. i have no clue what causes this?

I'm curious as to why you do that while you've got the motor revved that high. It dies because the ECU can't keep the motor rotating at that particular time, for whatever reason and there could be any reason, but mainly little things. Your key is still in the ignition with it turned to "On", the ECU is still reading the wheel speed sensors, but the motor isn't turning, of course the oil light is going to come on. Add on the fact that the car is almost 12 years old.
So, why are you putting the shifter in neutral again?
Rev your motor to 4-5k from a standstill and see if it dies, not drop it into neutral while driving. My motor does that if I'm getting on it while in first and I have to suddenly stop (quickly pushing in the clutch), but I also don't have an ISC (nor FIAV for that matter).

it does it if i put in the clutch as well. after a bit of driving i can b at idle and it will b below 600 or 700 rpm oil light flickering. i threw it into neutral cause of a redlight and i was in 3rd gear on the highway. racing.(i know dumb for racing)..... i drove it this morning and its slowing getting worse. does it at 3k now.
all stock but the guy b4 me put on a bov

Here's a few things for you to check in no particular order:
- battery connections
- make sure the grounds are good
- check alt connections
- oil level
- oil pressure sender connection
- ISC/IAC
- boost leak

It sounds to me as if the ISC/IAC isn't able to save it from stumbling. Don't worry about the oil light, that's inherent with low idle RPMs. The real issue is why the RPMs are dropping here and there. So, do a boost leak check and let us know the outcome.

I agree w/ silver, do a boost leak test and if thats ok I would look into the iac not doing its job.

does your idol wonder around at all?. or drop down to like 900 then maybe drop down again. kind of like a staging rpm drop. ha. sorry, sounds weird. My ICS was busted so i got a new one and my gst doesnt do it anymore. never drops below 750.
