Default RUST on Engine

I have some rust on the engine as you can see in the picture... is this a big problem? and how can i prevent it? ....

A little degreaser and alot of scrubbing and you'll be ok.

Get use to it. Its a DSM. These cars kind of rust up. What year is yours?

I can only see rust on the engine hook and o2 housing? Is there more? Take the hook off and sand it down then paint it so it doesn't rust again. The o2 housing rust just means that the housing sat around for too long sand it and repaint it or leave it alone and the heat will help preserve it. Rust will happen to any unpainted metal that has oxidized and sat around for too long. The iron block will not rust nor will the aluminum head. The exhaust will too if it's steel.

you cant paint the o2 housing, lol. itlll burn off within minutes.
iron block will rust... its iron.

Yeah, I was thinking that the block will have some sort of high temp paint on it, but you're right it will rust. I don't think I've ever seen one without some sort of coating on one though, so I just assumed

The o2 gets kind of hot to paint with the cheap-o high temp paint. Your going to need the 2000 degree paint I believe. I would look into ceramacoating it. My headers on my chevelle are bright and clean still.

ya.. the high temp 500 from wal mart prolly wont cut it... But there is higher temp paint out there..
