SALVAGE TITLE????? help
Well my 93 rx7 needed a rebuild quick, i didnt have the money, so i traded the vehicle for a 96 eclipse gst from a dealer...
bad move i know!
so the dealer told me the title was clean and clear on the eclipse. so everything went through, i signed the rx7 over to them.
well, that was on jan 5 2007. its now may 22 2007 and i still dont have the title for the eclipse. wtf.
not to mention i have no temporary registration. my tags expired jan 07, and i find out that the car has a repainted passenger front fender, with bondo on the door pillart connected to windshield, and it looks like the passenger airbag blew, because the bag cover isn't flush, its sticks out a little!!!
how long does the dealer have to show proof of title? i know its less then 5 1/2 months.
how long does my sales contract last? seeming thats the only thing i have!
and if the vehicle is salvaged what happens? is the deal off? or do they refund me the worth of the RX7?
im in california
any chances of getting my rx7 back, it now has a rebuilt motor

RE: SALVAGE TITLE????? help
First off, a LOT of DSMs passenger airbag covers dont sit flush. Heat (your in Cali) and humidity will affect plastic over time, keep in mind this car is eleven years old.
Sounds to me more like he had a rust or paint problem that caused him to repaint/bondo. Look at the frame, underneath... does it look like there is damage?
BTW, (In NY anyway) salvage title means that the car was totalled out by an insurance company, which means a dealer couldnt sell or trade it to you. Why dont you just get a hold of them and retrieve the title?
If youre that worried about it, maybe you could carfax it or something?

RE: SALVAGE TITLE????? help
this is a question to ask either the dealer or a lawyer... looks like this will turn into a legal matter. either you were suposed to contact the dealer on retrieving the title and other info yourself, or the dealer is a fraud... are they well known?
