Shift Solenoid
My 99 eclipse spyder won't shift into reverse. It wants to stay in 1st gear most of the time too. Check engine light came on and code reads p1750 which indicates a bad shift solenoid.
Does anyone know where this is located? Advance auto can get one for $204.00... so, what are other possibilities even though the error code calls this out.
Know where to find it is most important right now...
thanks!

RE: Shift Solenoid
The fluid is a tad on the high side... barely though.
We just changed the filter a month ago. The car has 125k on it and the bottom of the pan had a good amount of very fine silt in it. Maybe a 16th of an inch over the whole pan bottom.

RE: Shift Solenoid
Dtc 1750 is a soleniod assembly malfunction, I would replace the valve body and shift solenoid assembly and flush out the fluid and trans cooler. Call the dealer abt it b/c it might be all one part. I would go to advance auto for transmission parts.

RE: Shift Solenoid
This is the 2.4L engone so advance doesn't carry the parts for the trans. they only have it for the 2.0L engine.
I've located a used set of solenoids from a guy for $50 so that's not too bad. Otherwise, new ones are $412 from Mitsubishi.
The guy tells me that the solenoids are above the valve body. I assume that the valve body comes out rather easily after the pan/filter is off.
Any tips on what to look out for or how to make life easier?
