Ron seems pretty close with the blown head gasket... the idle would fluxuate due to the change in compression, correct?

well there is one way to figure that out quickly and that is to do a compression test

Actually, it WILL, because it did on my car, It wasn't the alternator that was causing it, but lack of battery charge, and as we all know the alternator charges your battery so in fact. The alternator will cause the idle fluxuation as my lack of battery charge caused mine!

Then ansewer me this, why when he unhooks the IAC does his car idle fine. And if it was the alternator, then wouldnt it do it all the time and not just when the car is cold. For some reason the alternator doesnt seem like the solution to his idle problem, or the smoke problem.

Im fairly certain this will all be resolved with a simple compression test... starting a pool here, Im gonna say cylinder 3 will have little to no compression...

I'm not saying his car is smoking because of his alternator, just saying that even if he removes the IAC that's less his car has to power, and it could be a lack of power issue, as far as his car smoking, he's prolly split a ring and is leaking oil into his chamber, but I'm not a mechanic so idk. Have you run her hard lately?
