I run a 98 eclispse gs and i was looking on ebay and saw a speed chip for like 10 bucks. It says it will add horsepower. Is this true and if so how hard is it to install?

 

it will not help you AT ALL. it may even damage your ECU. STAY AWAY!!

 

haha, yeah all that is a resister that they want you to plug in... its a waste, go to radioshack for that.. if its too good to be true, it usually is

The only "chip" offered for the 420a eclipse is by howellautomotive.com, the chip is only for 97 models that are 5spds. No the chip cant be put on any other year unless you wnat te rewire the whole car. No they refuse to make the chip for any other year becuase their is no market for it. Yes their are other options a stand alone will do the same thing but its 1800 bucks for a good one (aem). Other ways are getting a igntion box and advancing the timming while using a safc and 24lb injectors.
