dusty, tisk tisk. the spyder gs came w/ a SOHC 4g64.
The 4g64 is not crap! WTF is wrong with you? Or are people just using these blocks to build strokers from for no reason?

Originall poster...

Get a 4g63t head and everything to make it turbo. Run lower boost until you get money to get the bottom end built. Once you do that you will have a beast.

RC was commenting on Dusty's comment, bubba. He never said it wasn't a good motor, lol.
Is this the Mrs. posting?

i was saying the 420 is a piece of crap obviously the 4g63 is a good engine if it wasn't tons of people wouldn't do the swap. the 4g64 is a good engine but not strong enough to hold what some people are looking to put down.

the only differnce is the internals and it being a 2.4l. if it had upgraded pistsons and rods it would be basicaly the same motor.

if you are planning on running apx 8lbs on the stock SOHC 4g64 i would say you will be as fast if not just a weeeeee bit qicker than a stock gst. and the only reason you will get that powerful is b/c the n/a verson of that car has a high compression that will help u out powerwise. i would say apx 210-220whp but that won't be all that fast b/c its so heavy

i figured the wieght would hold me back. but i can hold and pull on stock 1g and 2g gs right now but i want to give the local rice a bit better of a beating... what would be the best air fuel controller to buy?i am biding on a safc but lost it so i am about to buy one for 200 with harnes but ifigured i should ask you guys first? also where can i get good piping for my side mount? other than the radiator like hose that is coming with it? also would i get better pulloff the line cause the 2.4getting better spool up cause the bigger displacement? or does that only come in to play while rolling?

- i'd see if anybody is selling their stock plumbing from a gst or gsx... that would prolly be ur best bet. i dont know of any companies that make piping for the stock SMIC.
- a SAFCII is just fine as a a/f controller
- you won't get better pull but you will spool faster and it won't make much differnece w/ a small turbo anyways.
