Default Squeaky Suspension

Every time i hit a bump at any speed lower than 40mph or so my sispension squeaks. It sounds like its coming form the front of the drivers side. A friend of mine said it was the strut tower bar. Just seeing what you guys thought and what my options are to fix it. Do I need to replace it or is it like other sqeaky things where wd40 solves all your problems? Thanks for any help.

First off WD40 solves no problems. It will actually create problems (That's why you NEVER use it to clean a gun ) As for the squeak... I'd say it MAY be a strut with a bad seal. If you're getting leak by it could cause a squeak. It all depends where exactly the sound is coming from as to what it is.

hahahaha. I never clean my guns with wd40. that wouldnt do any good. It just a lubricant so i figured it might stop the rubbing if in fact that is what is creating the noise. I cant really pinpoint the noise for you so Im not sure what to do? Have my mechinic take a gander?

Actually WD40 isn't a lubricant it's designed to break down corrosion to allow you to break bolts free and well O.K. a slight lube as well. But that's why you can't use it on guns it'll actually freeze them up. Sure it'll get rid of the squeak for now BUT for how long?? How often will you have to WD40 the squeak?

i have no idea. Im relatively car illiterate so i don't know. I checked around and strut tower bars arent that expensive anyway so i think ill just replace that if thats what is causeing the problem. I have another question though. A little while ago before it started to squeak i heard a relatively load pop originating from the same area as the squeak. Does that mean anything? i thought it mightve been a rock but it sounded too large now that i think of it. Just a thought. Thanks

With a rather loud popping I'd have to say the seals in the strut. So if the tower bar doesn't fix it then it could possibly be the strut itself. Keep me updated.

a squeaky suspension is not necessarily an indication that something has gone bad, its more important to notice if it feels wrong. if it feels fine and you can live with the sound that you are ok. if it bugs you find out where its coming from and replace it.

Ok the noise definitely isnt tolerable. Its strictly on the drivers side and at low speeds its pretty much constant. when i turn, it is really bad but going in a straight line it only squeaks when i hit a bump. its pretty loud so i need to get something fixed. the car doesnt handle any different but im afraid that if i let it go then something might change and then it will handle differently.

I am having the same problem with my 03 Galant. While searching for the problem, i came across this http://autorepair.about.com/library/a/1h/bl735h.htm
This also sounds like what the other car was doin.

it gets worse on turns?. Could it be the brake pad pin? Just a suggestion.
